The philosophy of the GCT is to host major chess events, both to offer chess fans the highest standard shows and to shed light on our sport and contribute to its popularity, advertising the educational and social benefits of chess to a wider audience.

The London Chess Classic

The London Chess Classic is the place to be in early December every year! The chess festival has been hosting a top-level invitational tournament since the beginning in 2009 and joined the Grand Chess Tour from its start in 2015.

However, this is only the most visible part of the iceberg. The festival also hosts many other tournaments, the London Chess Conference and connects with Chess In Schools and Communities, which makes it much more than just a tournament.
